detour BLUES

Your Music On The Station

For Your Interest!

wimax-119

detour Blues strives to feature quality, blues music by Major Label, Independent, and International blues artists. Promotional contacts for netcasting consideration are very much appreciated, and all suggestions are checked out. However, only music which fits the format and quality standards of detour Blues will be added to the line up. Some background on detour BLUES’s procedures and format is provided below to help you determine if you feel it would be worthwhile to submit your music.

The Program

detour BLUES is a 24/7, random-play blues radio station hosted at a remote service which is fully licensed for netcasting performances. Playlists are typically 20 to 25 hours in length, reshuffled after each run, and updated with a completely new batch of songs on a monthly basis. detour BLUES began netcasting the blues 24/7, starting on February 25, 2009.

Preferred Styles

While detour BLUES’s program format focuses primarily on guitar-driven blues (Luther Allison, Buddy Guy, Smokey Wilson, John Primer, Tab Benoit), blues-rock (SRV, Jimmy Thackery, Walter Trout, Gary Moore, Melvin Taylor, Bugs Henderson, Johnny Winter, Robben Ford, Debbie Davies) and a few classic performers (Albert King, B.B. King, Albert Collins), there are a considerable range of blues styles to be appreciated, Acoustic, Country, Delta, Soul, Zydeco, R&B, jazz, and Vocal oriented blues are all within detour BLUES’s format. And while detour BLUES’s focus is on guitar oriented blues, there is an upper limit as well, where the music can be too heavy, the guitar playing too rock oriented. The best thing to do is listen to the station a few times to get a good idea of the format.

Please Note:
detour BLUES’s mission is promoting the blues through the netcasting of songs from noteworthy, guitar oriented
and various other forms of the blues CDs . As a general rule, only songs from CDs which overall fit the program format will be included in netcasting rotation.

Audio samples are helpful in determining if the suggested music will fit detour BLUES’s format. I prefer previewing songs before anyone goes through the effort and expense of sending promotional material. If available online, I will visit the site where they are available. Failing that, 3-4 samples can be sent to me via email at: john@detourblues.com.

If the previewed songs are of appropriate quality and format, you will be contacted by email to make further arrangements. I am sorry, but only those whose music is expected to fit the station format will be contacted. detour BLUES is over-run with music submissions and this is a one man operation… it simply isn’t possible to respond personally to everyone.

Once approved CDs are in detour BLUES’s possession, they are added to the Artist/CD Index at www.detourblues.com. This listing includes a link to the artist’s website or label promotion page if one is available. Select songs will be added to detour BLUES’s song library, and the artist will be notified as to when they can expect their music to go into rotation.

detour BLUES is hosted by a fully licensed service and all licensed songs (BMI, ASCAP, SESAC, etc) are eligible for netcasting. If you are an Independent song writer not affiliated with any licensing agency, then I will need your expressed permission to netcast your original music (but not cover songs you record).

detour BLUES Station IDs

detour BLUES is always in need of Station ID spots from participating artists, and I greatly appreciate receiving these from those artists who have the time, resources and inclination to make one for us. E-mail me at: john@detourblues.com for more info on this, and let me know if you’d like to create a spot for detour BLUES.

Independent Distribution Through CD Baby

Looking for a distribution outlet for your independently produced CD? Check out CD Baby, a distributor exclusively for Independent artists, possibly the largest on the Internet. They accept CDs from all countries, and deliver world wide as well. I have heard only good words from artists who have used CD Baby.
